Get the Most out of Every Day by Living on Purpose

Are you confidently creating the life you want?  Or do you feel like you’re living the same day over and over?  Like you are not accomplishing anything new?

Do you work hard and still feel like you are not getting where you really want to go?

Habits and routines are good.  They can make you more focused, productive and efficient, but they can also keep you safe, comfortable and STUCK.

When you have passion and purpose you are much more motivated to get out of your comfort zone to create a life that fulfills you.

Use these strategies to find more passion and create a life that fulfills you:

  1. Know what you want. You need to determine what things (physical, emotional, spiritual) are most important to you. What do you value? What brings you the most joy and happiness? Is it helping others or meeting your own definition of success? Does creating art move your soul? Even if you don’t know what it is, you do have a passion for something – you just have to figure out what it is.
  1. Get a motivated to change with a fast win. Getting unstuck requires some motivation. Think about what you could do right now that motivates or excites you. Long-term goals are fantastic and you definitely benefit from setting them AND it’s important to see results. Long term goals are just that – long term. Sometimes all you need is to see progress. That’s where a fast win will really help keep you motivated.
  1. No regrets. If you were going to die tomorrow, what would you regret NOT doing? As Brendon Burchard likes to say: “Did you live? Did you love? Did you matter?” Make sure that you don’t wish you would have done something that you did not try. Have no regrets. There is a great quote from James Dean: “Dream as if you will live forever; Live as if you will die today.” Find your balance between these two extremes.
  1. Examine your hobbies. The life you really want to live might include your hobbies. How do you like to spend your free time now? You may enjoy taking photographs, doing home renovation projects or singing. Many people devalue their hobbies as ‘not important enough’ and let the demands of life get in the way. If something is important to you, make sure that it is prioritized so you get to enjoy it!
  1. Your best day ever. If you have never done this exercise, give it a shot, it you have, you know how revealing it can be. It is quite simple, simply describe a “perfect” day. What would you be doing? Who would you be with? How would you choose to spend your time? Next, you want to consider what it is you can change now so that you can get more “best” days.
  1. Wave goodbye to your comfort zone. Comfort zones are just that – comfortable. Why would we ever want to leave? There are good reasons not to leave: fear of failure and fear of the unknown are the most common. Unfortunately, the most meaningful activities are most often found outside of your comfort zone. Take a walk on the wild side and explore new things
  1. Set a goal to find meaning and purpose for your life. Setting goals is one way we tell ourselves that something is important to us. If we set a goal to find meaning or have more excitement in our lives, we are much more likely to actually be able to do so. Make sure you write it down and maybe even tell someone so that you can get some accountability. Like any other goal, ensure that you actually schedule time to work on it and evaluate your progress from time to time.
  1. Unplug. Turn off the TV, your cell phone and all your other devices. Have real conversations with real people. If you’re spending most of your time plugged in you are likely missing out on many opportunities. Find something meaningful to do and then get out there and do it.
  1. Try something new. The easiest way to get out of your comfort zone and even shake up your thinking is to try something new. Go out dancing, take an exercise class or try out skating. If nothing else, it will at least make that day unique.

Live your life as confidently and as fully as you can. Don’t let it pass you by or let any fears prevent you from having the best life possible. Even if you don’t find the exact meaning of life, live yours fully and with passion. You will definitely enjoy it more!
